Why: Fashion week is upon us which means that in addition to the sartorial porn from the runway, we get to see killer front row celebrity style and street style which made this week's Chic of the Week almost impossible to pick. However, Rose has been near perfection (hello sequin pantsuit at the SAG Awards) at every turn lately, and how can you not love any of the ladies from Bridesmaids, so we wanted to recognize her. Bryne took a classic and simple color combo, and by mixing up the textures (silk, lace, and sequins) she stood out as chic perfection even among all the color-blocked ensembles.

The Perfect Bridesmaid Dress

Florals are everywhere right now in fashion (see Peter Som or Christopher Kane), and I'm lucky enough to be standing up in my sister-in-law's wedding this summer which equals the perfect reason to purchase a new dress. I'm not just talking about the rehearsal dinner because my sister-in-law is so amazing that she has asked her bridesmaids for our input and suggestions for the dress.

Since we'll all still have to pay for our own dresses (she's amazing, but our last name's not Trump), I suggested the following lovely floral options that are fashion forward and budget friendly. Do any of them get your vote?

Why: Red carpet newbie Woodley, from The Descendants, seems to be growing gracefully out of her Disney teeny bopper style - not a small feat when you think about how long it took/is taking Britney, Christina, Miley, etc..... Red lace could come off trashy, but Shailene's full coverage underpinnings, subtle make-up, and sweet loose braid keep this look romantic and sophisticated. Can't wait to see what she's wearing at the Oscars in just a few weeks.

A Night in Paris with Jason Wu

On a rainy Thursday night in NYC, I was lucky enough to score an invitation to the Jason Wu for Target shopping event. As anticipated following the wildy successful Missoni collection and the obsession it seemed every blogger and editor had with the Jason Wu lookbook, it was a madhouse.

A beautiful madhouse though with a Parisian theme complete with Laduree macaroons, St. Germain cocktails, and French culinary favorites like Croque Madame being served by gorgeous models outfitted, of course, in Wu for Target.

Even though we were all wrangling to buy our goods before enjoying the party, it was much more sophisticated than a typical sample sale with pleases, thank yous, no tears, and no hoarding. Everyone was feeling the polished and elegant vibe of the evening and tried to match it with our best ladylike shopping behaviors.

Hundred Thousand Dollar Cars, Everybody Got 'Em

Thanks Will Smith for the post title, and thank you work for sending me on a much-needed trip next week to, the home of Art Basel, South Beach in Miami. I know we've been very lucky this winter in Boston, but I'm definitely in a winter style rut and need some inspiration to shake it up. How bad is this style rut? Well I've matched a man, a well-dressed man but still a man, in my office twice since New Year's so I'd say it's pretty bad.

I won't have much time to post while I'm there, so wanted to share some images of South Beach that I'm using as inspiration while I pack. So far my suitcase is filled with breezy tops and maxi dresses in white, black, blues, and pinks.

Love the fun color combinations on the lifeguard posts. Way better than old Baywatch.

The pool at the Delano. Perfect for lounging in the sun, sipping mojitos, or resting under a cabana. Big sunglasses are a must for the people watching.

Sunset and neon lights. The perfect lighting for tan skin and white jeans. The art deco buildings like the famous Colony hotel and Versace's home, hell even the Marriott has style in South Beach, are so perfectly stylized they somehow feel retro and futuristic at the same time.

I'll be in Charleston, SC over the weekend visting my dad and stepmom in their new house there. I have never been, but hear it's amazing. Can't wait to share my Charleston experience with y'all next week!

There were so many gorgeous looks on the red carpet tonight. Reese, Salma, Freida, and Julianne all truly brought it. It was a complete 180 from the tragic red carpet earlier this week at People's Choice, thank god.

Since there were so many who got it right, I had to pick by trend to just post a few faves. So, while there were blues, blacks, reds, and a suprising show of yellow numbers, it's hard to deny that purple and white were the color of tonight's Golden Globes. With those guidelines, some favorites below.

Why: Even though it's still January, Kruger's etheral chiffon halter perfectly accessorized with a punch of color has me thinking/hoping that spring is right around the corner. I may also be a bit biased on this one since I consider yellow and grey to be the chicest of color combinations (you can see our wedding photos as proof).

Whose Choice?

I suspect a hanging chad is to blame for the fashion disaster of a red carpet at last night's People's Choice Awards. While three ladies totally nailed it (thank you Emma Stone in Gucci, Jennifer Lawrence in Viktor & Rolf, and - I can't believe I'm saying this - Miley Cyrus in David Koma), most of the starlets missed the mark in ill-fitting, frumpy, or over-the-top ensembles.

I hate to criticize a red carpet, because god knows I'd get it wrong if I was in their shoes, but just this once I can't help myself. Here's hoping that Sunday's Golden Globe carpet is a huge improvement because otherwise we're in for a painful awards season, which is usually FB&F's favorite season.

What do you think? Am I being too harsh on these ladies?

Who: Rooney Mara aka Chic of the Week All-Star

Where: Berlin, Paris, and Madrid

When: January 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 - Yep all week

What: Our favorite is the Miu Miu two-piece on the left, but also a Givenchy jacket and miniskirt, leather-trimmed Michael Kors assymetrical gown with cut-outs, Rodarte chiffon halter dress, and the very close runner-up a gorgeous embellished Louis Vuitton LBD.

Why: Any girl who gets it right every night of the week deserves an award. More than just consistently chic though, she's a style chameleon tackling avant-garde, classic, sexy, and feminine all in one week which in this age of starlets having a go-to look is quite refreshing. Also her jewelry free ensembles are another breath of fresh air and reminder that sometimes the clothes speak for themselves.

Talking 'bout my resolutions

Full disclosure - I believe in resolutions, but I do not believe in New Year's resolutions. I think that putting so much pressure on because of a date on the calendar is setting oneself up for failure. If you want to go to the gym, go in December. Want to quit smoking, do it when you feel the motivation. So, now, ahem, please excuse while I speak out of the other side of my mouth, but I'm in need of a style shake-up, so here are my Style Resolutions for 2012 (those aren't exactly New Year's resolutions, right?) all of which are totally budget friendly.

1) Mix and match colors and patterns from my closet with the carefree ease of a J. Crew model. How cool is she in orange and leopard?

2) Sit and stand up taller. No matter if I get the mix and match in #1 wrong, I'll still look pulled together and confident

3) Make 2012 a throwback year and add a little more vintage to my life. Some of my more cherished and complimented pieces are hand me downs or vintage finds like this amazing turquoise and silver belt that looks incredibly chic paired with an LBD

4) Try things I don't think I can pull off...and wear them outside of the house - it might take a few extra minutes of styling, but dammit I'll make these Alexander Wang silk sweatpants I got on sale look amazing

5) Make a major investment purchase - a new navy velvet sofa - since while I change my clothes every day, sometimes many times a day, my sofa only gets to change once every couple of years. Better make it perfect like the furniture equivalent of the girl who causally wears her skinny jeans with a Chanel tweed jacket

It's not often that I take fashion advice from my mom. I think the matching Christmas sweaters scarred me for life. However, I think I may need to work through those repressed holiday memories and start taking her advice because she sent me this video on 25 Ways to Wear a Scarf and as I can tell by the 8MM+ views I'm the last person to view this and probably the person who needs it the most!

I have a whole storage box of scarves - Hermes silk scarves, vintage scarves, gauzy scarves - but since The European Loop and I have been seeing each other monogamously now since, well forever, I never bring any of them out. Now that I'm not only educated, but inspired to try all these new looks my closet just got a whole lot more exciting!

Our favorite bowtie wearing guy has been named "Exclusive Brand Stylist" for Kate Spade. Brad Goreski styled the 2012 Spring presentation during New York Fashion Week and sounds like he aced it since he announced his full-time gig on Twitter this morning. What does an Exclusive Brand Stylist do you ask? Sounds like Brad will style all press events, shows and presenations, ad campaigns, and maybe play a social media role as well....so in other words the most amazing job ever.

Since FB&F loves Kate Spade, their ladylike pieces and amazing costume jewelry play a major role in our closets, we're wondering if Brad will share a sneak peek at what happens behind the scenes at Kate Spade during the upcoming season of It's a Brad, Brad World. As a Zoe-devotee, I was totally opposed to the show, but in light of this news I'm warming up to it.

Very Pinteresting...

I’m constantly grabbing images from blogs/shopping sites and tearing pages out of magazines that I’ve deemed as must-haves, blog-worthy, or inspirational. The problem with this, not counting that my husband complains about the constant clutter, is that I eventually end up forgetting why I loved something, waiting too long to find the item/not remembering where I pulled the original image from, or the pages get tossed in the bin.

I know I'm about 6 months slow on this one, but enter my new obsession Pinterest. This amazing new tool (which you put on your bookmark bar to easily access on every site) let's you build your own digital inspiration boards (which you know I love to build). You pin photographs that you find online and can organize them into categories you want like house, wedding, fall 2012, etc... The sites you pull from are saved and you can share your pins with friends via Twiter and Facebook. According to the site "pinboards are visual collections of things you love," and I already love Pinterest.

Why: The glowing Lively (no doubt dating Ryan Reynolds has something to do with that) looks an appropriate amount festive for a late December event without going overboard with the metallics and sequins. Although not a textbook example, this look jumped out at me as lately I can't help but be digging on the peter pan collars and completely buttoned up looks all over the place. Thanks to Lively's inspiration I'm checking out some of the options below that are slightly more in my budget than Gucci.

Why: Not only does she look gorgeous (as always) and appear to be taking some risks (hello kneecaps), but the on-trend lace dress at less than $100 at Zara is another one of Catherine Middleton's reasonably priced selections. While we'd like to see it will opaque tights instead of pantyhose, we love the wide belt, cropped black jacket, and black clutch. This would be a perfect FB&F look for any holiday party this year.

Unfortunately, it's already sold out, but hopefully thanks to the power of a princess...er duchess, it will be available again soon.

Howdy

Hi there, so very last minute but thanks to work I'm down in Austin, TX today and tomorrow and wanted to share some of my trip with you. Have you guys visited? This place is incredible. We had a little down time so spent an hour walking around South Congress (the trendy area called SoCo by locals), and here are a couple of highlights.

Allen's Boots has an huge selection of custom made cowboy boots, and even though we only had an hour I somehow managed to find the perfect pair and bought them. Definitely not in the budget, but I've actually been looking at boots online for awhile now and figured when in Rome, right? These are more legit than what I was looking at on Zappos and they claim to last forever so it's an investment piece. They are gorgeous tan calf leather with turquoise and cream embroidery.

This is Jo's. Maybe one of the only places in the world where you can get coffee (or the most delicious Chai I've ever had), beer (Lone Star or Shiner Bock), and vegan muffins. Keep Austin weird and amazing.

Below is what we ate for lunch today at the cutest little BBQ joint called Franklin BBQ owned by a husband and wife duo who get up at 3am every morning to start preparing the mouth-watering BBQ that sells out every day (the line in the pic is a regular occurrence).

Yep, you're correct in thinking that's 5 different kinds of meat. Between the four of us we had brisket, sausage, turkey, pork, ribs, potato salad, coleslaw, beans, and some local beers. Oh and can't forget the banana and bourbon pie for dessert. Stuffed!

This is a favorite local music venue. I've actually been lucky enough to attend a concert here before and if you find yourself in Austin ever, it's a can't miss.

Designer Spotlight: Piamita

With the loungewear trend in full effect (thank you Alexa Chung for making it ok to wear pajama pants to work), it's great news that Piamita is around. Founded by three friends, including a W Magazine Market and Accessories Editor, Piamita is redefining loungewear. Their pieces are not only comfortable, a must for loungewear of course, but they are also polished, sophisticated, and (supposedly) very flattering.

You may have seen their swoonworthy pants and tops featured in all the November and December magazines or checked out their website and incredible inspiration board (above) or lookbook, but if you were like me you ended up disappointed because you couldn't actually purchase these items editors were telling us we had to have. However, thankfully that's over now because Piamita is available at Shopbop!

Now that Piamita is finally available I can't wait to get my hands on one or two of the items below. Slightly higher than my typical price range, but with the holidays coming up maybe I'll get lucky and someone very nice will put one of these under the tree for me.....

Why: Although she's been modeling since 2006, Rosie really came into the spotlight in 2011 thanks to her many flawless red carpet appearances promoting Transformers (who can forget when she perfectly channeled Jessica Rabbit ?). Once she was on our radar we started to notice that Rosie has got great style, and not just on the red carpet.

This look caught my eye as I've been loving a blue/black combination this fall, but always nervous I'd get the balance all wrong and look like a big bruise. Rosie's delicate deep blue silk top, paired with a wide black leather belt, woven skirt with a mix of black and a bright electic blue, and simple accessories like ladylike pointed toe black pumps serves as the perfect how-to guide on making this color combination really work.

No longer just for doilies, lace is everywhere right now and I'm loving it. Whether you want a lot (some of these seasons best dresses are cute lace party dresses) or a little (lace ballet flats, accessories, and beyond), lace is a great way to add some texture to your looks this season. FB&F favorite and regular Chic of the Week-er (see here, here, here), Anne Hathaway is engaged to her boyfriend Adam Shulman! Congratulations and Best Wishes!

We've loved Annie since Princess Diaries and our love has only grown thanks to Devil Wears Prada, her many many many costume changes at the Oscars, her friendship with Rachel Zoe, and the fact that she never gets is wrong on the red carpet.

These two seem to be ridiculously happy and in love, and doesn't she deserve it after that whole hoopla with the ex? Annie seems like such a kind and genuine person, so hopefully Adam is equally as wonderful.

What do you think the dress will look like and who will she choose to design it? With such a low-key engagement should we assume a casual wedding and dress?

I went to Saks, not usually an FB&F shopping destination, because they had a great deal on suits which my husband needed for work (by the way, ladies have it easy. Do you know how expensive suits are?!). Totally lucked out because Saks was having 70% off all sale items before 12, so I made it out of there with a Tucker silk maxi dress, 3 Joie silk tops, and a Marc by Marc Jacobs skirt all together for under $200. Totally worth the hour I waited in line for the dressing room.

I thought I was committed to finding a great designer deal, but apparently I'm nowhere near as hard core as these folks camped out in front of H&M tonight for the debut of the Versace collection tomorrow. Did I mention it's 40 degrees right now in Boston?

It looks like the collection will not disappoint, so I hope these guys get everything they want tomorrow morning. I'm all for getting there early, but I can't decide if I think they are inspiring or just plan silly to spend the night outside for fashion....what do you think?

I don't know about you guys, but lately I've been feeling a little over there being an app for that. I download these supposed "life changing" apps, but somehow 5 days later I've forgotten about my new app and am back to my go-tos like Twitter and Pandora and wondering what all the app fuss is about. However, this time I think I've found one that will join those go-tos.

It's called StyleBook and for $3.99 I can now create magazine-worthy looks, track all my outfits, and log icons and style inspiration. Getting started takes a little work since I needed to upload images of my clothes, but now that it's up and running I feel like I final have the closet of my dreams (Cher's from Clueless of course) in the palm of my hand.

Wish it was free, but $3.99 is definitely the least I 've ever paid for something blessed by Bazaar, Lucky, and The NYT.

Do you guys use any style-related apps? Any other ones I should add to my go-tos?

Thanks to my amazing friend Sara at O Magazine I was the lucky recipient of a package of Dailys today. In case you're unfamiliar with Fashion Week Daily, outside of their site, these lovely little magazines are available every morning to attendees of Fashion Week either at the door or waiting on your seat (for those VIP enough to have actual seats).

Even though they are a little old since they are from Fashion Week, I cannot wait to curl up with a glass of wine tonight and enjoy one, well two, of my favorite indulgences.

Binge vs Budget - Balenciaga Edition

I went on a shopping scouting trip this weekend on the hunt for the perfect black leather jacket (any suggestions??), and came across this amazing Balenciaga blazer on sale from $2500 to $700...in my size, only one in stock - I mean that's shopping serendipity, right? I wish I had taken a photo of the lining. It was rad.

After a few visits to the fitting room, leaving it on hold to walk around the block and text pics to my friends for their advice, and calling my husband (who must be the most amazing man in the world since he said "Buy it. I want you to have it if it makes you happy."), I decided that I just couldn't justify spending $700 on myself and left it at the store.

What do you think? Did I make the adult decision or should I be running back to the store instead of typing this since it's Balenciaga and a blazer and black and navy? Eeeeks!

For the first time in a long time, this year was a great year for movies (Social Network, Black Swan, King's Speech, The Fighter -all amazing) and I have to say I think it was a great year for the red carpet. I have read mixed reviews from other sources ("not enough drama," "not enough bling"), and while I agree there were some missed opportunites (I'm talking to you Reese Witherspoon) I thought most of the looks were glamourous and romantic.

With a mix of body skimming/sexy (uh...hello Jennifer Lawrence aka the blond Angelina), pretty princess ballgowns (the always perfect Hailee Steinfeld), and sophisticated silver (who knew Celine Dion was still around or could recover from the backwards suit so well?), I thought the red carpet was entertaining and aspirational, and isn't that what the movies are all about?

Dresses and Downtown at Badgley Mischka

James Mischka and Mark Badgley opened the Badgley Mischka Fall 2010 RTW show on Tuesday with almost twenty gorgeous evening gowns. It was a gorgeous runway show of high-wattage glitter and red-carpet glamour, and it didn't hurt that I was able to watch the show from the second row! Apparently inspired by the cosmos, the collection was full of bedazzled gowns, save for a jumpsuit here or there, that would make any of their celeb followers shine during awards season. A few of my favorites which I hope make a red carpet appearance soon:

While twenty looks may have been enough for some designers, Badgley and Mischka took the opportunity to also show their secondary line Mark & James. So as an encore to twenty gorgeous gowns came thirty five contemporary looks that seemed inspired by the chic downtown New York woman. The Mark & James line, which was pre-dominantly in sliver and black, still has the sparkle we saw in the gowns (and in every collection at Fashion Week this year!), but instead of bedazzled gowns there were silver liquid leggings, sateen blazers, and heavy metal accessories.

Minimalism at Matthew Ames

The Matthew Ames Fall 2010 RTW show yesterday at Milk was full of simplistic silhouettes crafted in gorgeous leathers, silks, wool, and crepes. Challenging himself to create a wardrobe of "interchangeable pieces," Matthew Ames took classic shapes—jackets, pants, shirts—and "really stripped them down and cleansed them." I don't usually gravitate toward a minimalistic overall look, but the jackets and skirts were incredibly gorgeous, especially the leather skirts and shorts in pastel shades (pictured above), and adding tailored pieces like this would up the chic quotient in any closet.

Personally, I found this show to be full of beautifully tailored pieces, but the simple silhouettes combined with the minimalistic environment, music, and styling unfortunately made the collection seem a little empty instead of allowing the beautiful streamlined pieces to really shine.

A Little Whimsy at Lorick

Sunday's Lorick presentation was beautiful, styled to perfection, completely wearable, and I am coveting every single piece. Abigail Lorick, who is the real designer behind Gossip Girl's fictional Eleanor Waldorf, and who we love here at FB&F designed a gorgeous Fall 2010 collection full of adorable clothing and whimsical details. Romantically draped dresses, printed skirts and blouses, tweed coats and jackets were styled with items that any FB&F girl can find in her price range to update her look.

The key to mimicing the Lorick look is to keep your overall outift classic, ladylike, and graceful but add details (glitter tights, feather headpieces, booties, brightly colored leather opera length gloves) and interesting color combinations (pops of color like kelly green mixed with black and white) to keep the look interesting and fresh.

The Lela Rose Fall 2010 RTW show was a beautiful take on ladylike cocktail attire (which we would typically expect from Lela) that ladies who lunch, or anyone craving a polished look, could put on and look put together and fashion forward at the same time.

With the exception of a seemingly liquid gold jumpsuit, Rose showed mostly skirts paired with blouses and assymetrical dresses, but we were pleasantly suprised with the variety of prints and textures with which they were crafted. Heavy tweed jackets, brocade, futuristic-looking prints, etc...gave these polished pieces an interesting edge for Fall 2010.

Fashion Week Basics

Before I arrived on Sunday in New York, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week always seemed to be a fabulous event that I was dying to attend, but it was mysterious and I had no clue how it all worked. Now that I have had an opportunity to figure a few things out, I thought I would give you all a peek at the inner workings of this crazy thing called Fashion Week (or at least what I know so far!).

First step to getting into the tents at Bryant Park (as a blogger) is applying for media credentials. Having credentials allows you access to the tents at any time and to all the extras that are inside those doors (the AOL media lounge, the Tresemme hair salon, Maybelline make-up booths, Ecco Domani-sponsored cocktail hours, etc...). An amazing place to be, especially for the people watching, but the place you really want to be is sitting down at the actual shows.

Shows during Fashion Week take place at the tents at Bryant Park in either The Promenade (see photo above), The Salon, or The Tent. However, presentations and smaller shows also take place this week at off-site at locations like Union Square Ballroom, Milk Studios, etc...so a little advice here - wear comfortable shoes because you will be trekking all over the place. Shows start at 9am and go until 9pm, so some days you are on your feet (because it is also ridiculously crowded here which means no chairs) for 12 hours, again ladies comfortable shoes are key. Now, you might know where the show is, but actually getting into the shows is an entirely different animal.

Although you may have credentials, you still need a personalized invitation from the designer's pr team to get into the actual show. If you are a blogger, like Alice and me, you may be invited for standing room only, but if you are a celeb, a buyer, an editor, a friend of the designer, etc....you will have a seating assignment for the show. If you have seating, which I have been fortunate enough to have for Badgley Mischka and the Fashion Fund show, you are whisked into the tent, given a program (and possibly a goodie bag), and seated before the show begins. If you are standing room, you wait in line until the show is about to begin, at which point it is like a cattle stampede as bloggers race to the best standing location.

No matter how you make it through the doors, once you are in the door and seated or standing, the show begins...about 30 minutes after the scheduled start time living up to the expression fashionalby late, and it is an incredible 10 minutes of watching interesting, beautiful, artistic, and wearable clothes go down the runway on gorgeous models strutting to a designer-selected soundtrack.

Nevermind what I said earlier, this experience is totally worth standing in line and running around for 12 hours in 5 inch heels.

How do I know about it? I arrived in Boston on Friday, and was fortunate enough to be called in for a Monday morning job interview. Great news except for one thing....the only shoes I brought on my road trip from Chicago were my Hunter galoshes and my trusty Cole Haan flats - both comfortable, but neither interview appropriate. So Sunday night I rushed around trying to find a pair of black heels and feared that I would have to max out my credit card on a pair of $698 Louboutins (the only shoes in my size at the department store closest to my new apartment) when I saw a Jimmy Choo storefront out of the corner of my eye. I figured if I was going to spend this crazy amount of money (or my rent money basically) on shoes I should at least look at all my options before taking the plunge. However, luck was on my side because I walked in and since they are trying to move last year's styles to make room for the new 24:7 line almost everything was 50% off!! It took all of my restraint to just pick up the gorgeous black heels I needed (for $250 on sale from $498) and leave the other styles behind. A second visit may just be in my near future, and I hope a first visit is in yours!

Designer/Brand Spotlight: Eryn Brinie

Eyrn Brinie, according to their website, is a brand that "exemplifies European chic combined with New York's youthful spirit and modern sensibility." I agree with that description and love a new brand that provides me with a whimsical, elegant take on simple pieces that fit into my current wardrobe and freshen up my embarassingly repetitive cycle of outfits.

The best part is that this contemporary women's wear brand offers clothing at a price point that's comfortable for FB&F girls. Think $30 for blouses, $50 for dresses, $100 for blazers and jackets, etc... making Eryn Brinie like a Korean take on Zara or Topshop.

There is an Eryn Brinie store in Soho (have any of our readers been and seen the clothing in person? If so please comment and let us know!), but for those of us not in NY we can shop Eryn Brinie online without ridiculous shipping costs making it (sssh don't tell anyone I said this) almost a little better than Topshop or Zara.

Moving Day

Posen for Target

Even though we are still finding Rodarte on their sale rack and are waiting for Jean Paul Gaultier's collection debut in March, Target has already started releasing photos of the Zac Posen collection coming to Target April 25 through May 30. The collection is a bit of a departure from the gorgeous evening gowns we are used to seeing from Posen on the red carpet and from the collection he designed for Target Australia (see below).

However the prints are adorable and if the cut on the Target collection flatters a woman's figure as well as a Posen original does, with prices ranging from $19.99 to $90 we may be living in this collection from here on out.

Style Source: Anna Dello Russo

This Style Source has been a long time coming. I actually started it back in September when Anna Dello Russo was photographed everywhere during fashion week, and FB&F featured her as our Chic of the Week in October, but no matter the publishing date Anna Dello Russo, Fashion Director at large for Vogue Nippon, is a timeless style inspiration source and credit must be paid.

If you Google Anna Dello Russo and you will find quotes like:
"Russo wears the clothing and becomes part of the art rather than being mere hanger. Her wearing of the clothes, the way she holds her body, selecting the right fit; all tells the story of a woman engaged in her fashion passion (and with designer guardian angels, rather than a beautiful person in a lovely dress."

"This incredible specimen is always incredibly put together, always sophisticated with a unique allure. Just spectacular. A true rock-star. But really, at least in Japan, quite literally."

These are just two opinions from the thousands of admiring fans out there, and we at FB&F completely echo their sentiments. This amazing woman has no fears when it comes to fashion. She somehow makes feathers, ballgowns, couture, or extreme color daytime appropriate and look as easy-to-wear as jeans and a t-shirt. She wears designer clothing straight off the runway, and always accessorizes them with an amazing pair of heels and some eye-catching jewelry and sunglasses.

I have multiple photos of Anna Dello Russo on my inspiration board, and every morning when I see a photo of her it encourages me to be a little bolder and take more risks with fashion.

So what does this mean for you and your couture-free closet? It means wear a fun hat, put a big pin on your blouse, wear on a waist-defining belt, wear fabulous heels with everything, surround yourself with fabulously stylish friends, and most importantly don't be afraid to take risks!

Opposites Attract at the Golden Globes

With the exception of a few color standouts like Diane Kruger in fuchsia, Cameron Diaz in red McQueen, and Sandra Bullock in bright purple, the red carpet at the Golden Globes was covered with stars wearing either white/skin tone gowns or black. The color families may have been opposite, but both hues shared insane sex appeal, with thigh-high slits and low necklines, and the addition of ornate details, such as ruffles and beading.

Gap's new Utility collection for spring is one of those things that FB&F loves : on-trend designs made by a company whose quality you trust at a price that works for our very little pocketbooks. The key pieces of the collection - cargo pants, military sweaters, camp skirts - are great updates on classics that are perfect for work or weekend when paired with great heels or flats and a button down or cardigan. Patrick Robinson, Head of Design at Gap, has made a little video about each of the key pieces, so if you have a minute check them out on Gap.com.

My favorite piece is the green anorak jacket below. I can imagine this coat, which The Cut describes as "epitomizing this season’s relaxed, effortless style," making a seamless transition into my closet and my list of spring favorites. I want to keep my overall look feminine, so I would pair this with short skirts, pretty dresses, soft scarves, and lots of jewelry.

These shoes totally remind me of Chloe Sevigny's wildfire-popular open buckle boots, albeit a tamer, more subdued version. They have a bit of the same toughness, though, and of course the open front and buckles, but have quite a bit more wearability (and on sale, they are a little gentler on the debit card). I'd say add this season's must-have leather skirt for a little extra edge.

I love a super-feminine silk blouse. I think it started when I was little and my mother's mother would always don the loveliest silk tops - bow-necked, delicately cuffed wonders. I love me a big ring. And I adore Erika Pena's jewelry designs. Made from mini Swarovski crystals, this gigantic bauble is absolutely stunning. I also am crazy about the bright, optimistic colors, the cherry red and turquoise. It's like a ring pop, only less delicious and quite a bit more glam.

What: A simple, red long-sleeved Calvin Klein.

Where: At the CFDA Fashion Fund Awards in New York City.

Why: Okay, so I'm absolutely biased because I adooooore Karlie Kloss. But also, I love how simple yet stunning this look is. I am very much digging the minidress gone modest trend with high necks and long sleeves. I love too how Karlie goes for minimal makeup and daytime hair - and just a basic black clutch and pumps - to keep the look youthful, age-appropriate and let the scarlet frock pop. This is just my totally ideal evening look - equal parts ease and drama.

I feel like recently I sort of skim through whatever Daily Candy sends me, not paying the same rapt attention I once did. I'll forward a good restaurant suggestion on to my boyfriend, but otherwise I kind of sweep through their daily emails. But at the bottom of today's email about something or other, there was a little blurb about a Vancouver-based label called Dace. So I clicked and was totally wooed by their understated cool and femininity. I love vintage jewelry, or at least a sparkling find that has the feel of something from years past. So I fell head over heels for this vintage brass whistle necklace from Les Jumelles. It's an actual whistle from a french factory, from the 1960s, placed onto a long antique gold toned chain. There's something so sporty and nautical about this and so unexpected. It's such whimsical perfection.

Shopbop Lookbook Video

Shopbop has put their lookbooks in video form and their first one is pretty fantastic. Poppy Delevingne and Isabelle McNally go out on the town in NY for drinks, a concert, flip cup, and boys, and of course they both look amazing (and like they are having a blast) the whole time.

All of the clothing featured in the video is from designers Siwy and Pencey and is available to buy on Shopbop. The video is so amazing it actually makes me think I can pull off the hot Siwy red sequin leggings below as well as Poppy does, so I may be taking Shopbop Fashion Director Kate Ciepluch's, somewhat obvious, advice on how to style them, "the red sequin leggings provide killer fashion that can be overwhelming if not toned down a bit."

Here are a couple of Wants in the form of little things I wouldn't mind finding in my Christmas stocking next month.

First, we have this little Essie polish that reminds me of equal parts Easter candy and 1990s Hard Candy (little plastic ring included). God...remember those incredible glittery and pastel shades? Oh the lavender, the bubblegum pink, the chalky pale blue...I remember the feverish desperation to collect them all way too vividly. And the hoarding of all those little gummy rings - stars, hearts, circles - like the wonderful little prizes that they were.

On those mornings when I just don't think I can pull it together (normally the result of hitting snooze too many times or too many cocktails the night before) I rely on my make-up to make me look pulled together and ready to face the day. I've got winter on the brain. Yesterday, I was all scarves and now I've got my eye on some boots. There are few things better than a pair of classic Bean Boots from L.L. I've been searching for a cozy and kind of snug vintage-feeling flannel. Something that would look cute paired with jeans and not in a baggy grunge kind of way (though don't get me wrong, I love me some grunge). Remember when we asked How High is Too High after Alexander McQueen's models walked his S/S 2010 runway in 10-inch stilettos? Well Lady Gaga has answered and apparently is just fine with 10-inch heels. She wears the said McQueen stilettos and a complete look from his show in the video for her new single Bad Romance (which by the way I am loving). In happier times: Taylor, Rodger, Rachel, and Brad

As you know from reading FB&F, we are faithful watchers of the Rachel Zoe Project and even bigger fans (see style source profile here) of Rachel's hardworking, but brooding assistant stylist Taylor Jacobson. However, after four years of unpacking boxes, packing boxes for returns, driving around L.A., hearing all about Rachel's vertigo, pulling for shoots that never happen, giving up trips to Paris and invitations to Chanel fashion shows (and letting viewers know she wasn't happy about any of it), Taylor is finally moving on from Rachel Zoe. Are you dying?

Fashionista posted that Taylor emailed her contacts saying “After four amazing years at Rachel Zoe Corporation, I’m saddened and exhilarated at the same time to announce my departure. After much thought and consideration, I have decided to take the challenging leap to go off and style on my own.”

There are conflicting reports as to the exact reason for Taylor's departure, People is reporting Rachel fired Taylor, but no matter the reason we hope that Taylor has a bright future in styling and makes it to Paris and the Chanel show on her own.

As you might have picked up already, the long sleeved dress is having a moment (as far as I'm concerned). I love this perfect little green for the holidays long sleeved mini. I, first of all, adore the sleeves. And even more importantly, think you could wear it in so many ways - add a mass of necklaces, a patterned tight (maybe polka dots or hearts?), a furry vest, just a great big pair of earrings, a classic pump, statement boots...I could go on and on here. Though it's not exactly cheap, I think you could get a lot of wear out of it, making the price a little easier to swallow. Want to stretch your dollar even more? Opt for the basic black version, rather than the green.

I love a little touch of wrist-candy. Bold and big, small and delicate....whatever, whenever. This enamel bangle by Kate Spade (whose quirky, glamorous baubles I adore) feels somewhat Hermes-y or a little like Roberta di Camerino's trompe l'oeil velvet bags (faux buckles, etc). This bracelet belongs on the wrist of a chic lady toting a Jackie O-approved Hermes trim and wearing a terrific scarf and perfect flat...which is sometimes how I like to picture myself in my mind, so this bangle thankfully offers me a little tangible proof of my fantasy jet-setting self (trip to Capri not included)!

What: A down-to-the ground, long sleeved Victoria Beckham gown.

Where: 13th Annual 2009 ACE Awards Presented by the Accessories Council, in New York.

Why: Recently I've been getting a little annoyed at all the Wasson-based hype there is out there in the blogosphere. But this proves me totally, utterly, dead wrong. The hype is not hype at all, as far as this look is concerned. It's 50% 70s bohemian, 50% Morticia Adams and 100% amazing. I love that she is wearing a floor length gown, and nothing shredded, slouchy, micro-sized or beanie-topped. The look is grown up and appropriate but still devastatingly cool. I stand corrected, blogosphere.

This shirt reminds me so much of Dries Van Noten S/S 2009 - I love the casual fit, rendered in silk to make it a little bit special and ladylike. Wear with a jean and slip on some flats or pair with an incredible trouser for a night out. I am absolutely calling right now to order this...well, once my bank account becomes a little more accommodating (aka I get paid).

I really love playful jewelry. Especially when it takes the form of some type of creature or is perhaps masquerading as an object of function, but has no real use (see this and this). So of course I fell for this quirky necklace from Anthropologie. At first glimpse, it looks like a little a quaint pair of glasses chained around your neck, but then you see said spectacles are twined in intricately braided silk, playing dress up, as it were. Amazing. To me, there are few things better than baubles with a sense of humor.

Good Girl Gone Bad?

Most of the time I love Leighton Meester's style (see Chic of the Week here, here, and here). We at FB&F think she has a knack for making everything she wears seem contemporary, feminine, and stunning. However recently I have been noticing that it seems as though there is always a detail or two that was overlooked...for example it was her severe make-up paired with her etheral white gown at the Emmy's (see Emmy wrap-up here) and I cannot help but comment that the shoes seem totally mismatched with her most recent outfit (below).

When this image first arrived in my inbox and I saw the dreamy loose and wavy hair, the dewy make-up, and the gorgeous neckline on a painted Prabal Gurung dress I was drooling. However, when I scrolled down past the perfect black patent leather belt and got to the shoes my mouth dropped (and not in awe).

Again a little detail ruined one of Leighton's outfits for me...the shoes! This ensemble was absolutely stunning - ladylike and feminine while at the same time current and fresh - but the shoes seem campy and totally wrong for this outfit, almost like Mickey Mouse ears sitting on her feet!

What do you think? Am I being too harsh because I expect more from Meester, or do you agree that these shoes were not the best choice for this Gossip Girl?

Almost more than any of the recent additions to my ever-growing list of Wants, I want in a big way this beautiful silk romper from Kate Moss's latest collection for Topshop. For this line, Ms. Moss has introduced sleepwear that is totally elegant, feminine and sexy, to boot. The abstract butterfly pattern lends it the "oriental feeling" that Kate says describes the entire collection, indeed looking inspired by an opulent kimono. Though I honestly want every little knicker and tap pant and flirty robe from this luxe line, this piece I think is my very favorite - I so want to slink into it immediately and enjoy some decadent dessert and a glass of wine.
