Dotspotter

Splended Ink Dot Dress, $162 (available at Bloomingdale's).

One of your favorite looks from growing up is back and I'm not referring to matching leggings and tunics and headbands from Gap Kids (one of my personal favorites, besides smocked dresses and the sailor dress that matched my Samantha doll). I'm talking about polka dots. Mr. Michael Kors featured spots prominently on his spring runway - blue, white, black; skirts, tanks, dresses. I loved the look - minus the visors.

There are two feelings to this style: bold and eighties or ladylike and 1950s. Go back to the days of new wave with larger dots popping up on leggings and tanks or dotted tights. Prefer a mid-century look? Try feminine dresses with classic cuts, a bakelite-style bangle or even a spotted bodysuit (pair with a high-waisted short or pair of capris - very Buddy Holly summertime).

Clockwise from top left: Marc by Marc Jacobs Dot Spots Camisole, $198 (available at Nordstrom); Color Cafe Dot Resin Bangle, $95 (available at Kate Spade); Lauren Ralph Lauren Shannon Silk Polka Dot Dress, $170 (available at Ralph Lauren); Cotton Spandex Jersey Strapless Ruched Bodysuit, $26 (available at American Apparel); Opaque Polka Dot Tights, $9 (available at Sock Dreams); Polka Dot Legging, $40 (available at Topshop).

Two looks from Michael Kors' spring line.
